Causes of wall marble collapse

The collapse pit refers to the phenomenon of granular or block-like peeling that occurs locally on the surface of the stone during use.

It is a type of stone damage, but this damage is obviously different from the breakage and damage caused by the external force. Its cause, more often from the interior of the stone, so it has its special reasons for analysis methods and processing techniques. The difficulty of the pit treatment itself is relatively high, and if it appears on the wall, the difficulty is even higher. Below we will explain the causes of this phenomenon.

1. Analytical method of stone problem

The cause of the stone problem is nothing more than "external cause" and "internal cause". It is not an external cause, it can only be the reason of the stone itself. External factors and internal factors, the lack of which half can not be regarded as a scientific analysis. Although there are some cases where you don't need to analyze the internal factors, it doesn't mean you don't need to master them.

For example: stone rust spots, some are caused by foreign rust, and some are caused by the iron elements contained in the stone itself. Another example is the yellowing of white stone, some of which are indeed caused by foreign pollution; but some yellowing is caused by the oxidation of organic matter inside the stone.

Internal and external causes are of course a generalization. But the analytical methods it represents are crucial. For example, in this case, when on-site investigation, when external factors are not enough to explain the phenomenon of collapse, it is necessary to turn to the inside of the stone to find the cause. The reason for this case is inside the stone!

2, the internal salt of the stone leads to

This stone is a beige variety originating from the Mediterranean coast. The Mediterranean coast includes countries such as Egypt, Spain, Italy, Greece, and Turkey. Coastal countries are rich in beige stone, such as Egyptian beige, Spanish beige, and Shaanna beige (Iran).

These countries are closely related to the Mediterranean in terms of geology, and their land is formed by the rise of the earth's crust and the decline of sea water. Therefore, some of the stone materials in these countries were actually soaked in the sea water hundreds of millions of years ago.

Even if the crust rises later, the stone rises out of the water, but there is still salt in the sea. These salts, during the millions of years of sedimentation, do not change inside the rock mass. But after being mined, sawn into sheets, and become decorative items, these salts may change under new environmental conditions.

First, the large amount of water that comes into contact with the sheet metal will reactivate the salt that has been sleeping for hundreds of millions of years and then enters and exits along the micropores inside the stone. Second, the case is located in a hot and humid environment such as Guangdong. Even on the wall, the water vapor in the air is constantly flowing in and out, which will gradually precipitate the salt along the micropores of the stone. . In actual situations, if such panels are used in bathrooms, basements, etc., the environment is more humid, and this phenomenon is often more serious.

Evaporation and drying of water, dissolution and crystallization of salt, all produce strong stress. At the same time, the dissolved salt can also destroy the cemented structure of the stone. Under the combined effect, the stone will have problems such as salt precipitation (similar to the fact that the alkali is actually pan-salt), collapse pit, and powdering.
